* Wanna Piece of Me? *
This tutorial was written by me 6/13/08.
It was written in PSP XI, but should work in any
version with a few minor adjustments.
Supplies needed for this tut:
Tube of choice
I am using the stunning artwork of Keith Garvey
You can purchase a license to use his work HERE
Font of choice
Plug in : Alienskin Xenofex 2- Puzzle
Let's get started
Open a new canvas 600x600
Floodfill white
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer
Effects, drop shadow, with these settings
Duplicate this layer
Image, mirror
Position one of the tube layers to the left side
of your tag
Position the "mirrored" tube layer to the right side
Set the opacity of this layer to 70
Grab your preset shape tool, rectangle,
background set to black , foreground null
Draw out a rectangle around your tube
Layers, convert to raster layer
Grab your magic wand & click inside the rectangle
Add a new layer
Selections, modify, contract by 2
Floodfill the selection with #fa8082 , or color
of your choice
Deselect
Duplicate this layer about 11 times
Name your layers 1-11 so its easier when
it comes time to animate
You may not need that many frames, just depends on how many puzzle
pieces you take out at a time.
Activate layer 1 ,Effects, Alienskin Xenofex 2,
Puzzle with these settings
Activate layer 2
Effects, Alienskin Xenofex 2, Puzzle, and use
the adjustment tool
and randomly click on about 5 pieces of the puzzle,
which removes them from the puzzle
Repeat this step until you have no more
pieces of the puzzle left
Make sure the black layer & the mirrored tube layer
are under all of the puzzle layers
Activate the main tube layer
Layers, arrange, bring to top
Grab your eraser brush, and erase any parts of the tube
that you don't want to show
Grab your crop tool and crop away any excess that you don't want
for your tag
With the tube that I'm using, I needed to add
a border, so it wouldn't look like the tube
was "chopped" up, so this step is optional
Add a new layer
Make sure it is at the top of your layer palette
Selections, select all
Floodfill black
Selections, modify, contract by 2, hit delete
on your keyboard
Do not deselect
Floodfill the selection with #fa8082
Selections, modify, contract by 1, hit delete
on your keyboard
Do not deselect
Floodfill the selection with black again
Selections, modify, contract by 2, hit delete
on your keyboard
Deselect
Add your name and any copyright information
* Animation *
Close out all of your "puzzle" layers except
for layer 1, which should be the whole puzzle
Copy merged and paste in AS as a new animation
Close out layer 1 and unhide layer 2
Copy merged and paste in AS after current frame
Repeat this step with the remaining puzzle layers
In AS, select all frames
Change the frame properties to 65
Now click on ONLY the last frame and change
the frame properties on this frame to 200
Save as a gif and you're done.
Hope you have enjoyed this tutorial!
